The retreat was for the moms however a group of 6 young men had a fun day fishing, collecting fire wood and sharpening sticks, hiking etc. And a group of about 10 5-12 year olds spent the day playing w/ goats, grooming horses, running and hiking. The moms spent time in the woods reconnecting thier hearts with the Lord. Then after a wonderful sack lunch we hiked back to the house where the Lord met us in a time of worship, sharing and Holy Spirit led healing and freedom. We ended the day with a bon-fire/ weiner roast. Worship w/ drums and guitar, and a football game for the kids. What a glorious day!

Jacob showing off his big catch!

The boys chasing the goats...or the goats chasing them!

Roasting Hot Dogs

Sorry I don't have more pics...Jacob had my camera and took some great shots of chickens, horses, goats and nature!

IMPOSSIBLE TO OUTGIVE GOD

Last Sunday I sat in a home church meeting with Danny and Rhonda Calhoun. They oversee a ministry called Harvest Home. They have been given 300+ acres and are developing a community for the widows and orphans. They are beginning stage 2 of the development. This is a vision that is unfolding after over 30 years of prayer. They have recently purchased as a 'steal' a steel building in which they are going to develop apartments for single moms and their children. Last week as they shared about this and their desire to build a basement for 3 levels of apartments the Lord spoke CLEARLY..."Misty, I want you to help lay the foundation for this work of mine for single moms". I knew the Lord was inviting me into sowing financially into the digging of the basement which would cost $10,000. So I thought..."ok, $100". Again I sensed the Lord say "Incease it 10-fold". Now here is the kicker...I have been watching these financial videos by Dave Ramsey and he has ingrained in me to save $1000 for an 'emergency' fund. I have been laboring for some months on establishing this fund. You know it seems like when you get it something happens to the car or house or something. Well, I proceeded to inform God that Dave Ramsey wouldn't agree and that I had been laboring for MONTHS to save money. I guess God had different plans than Dave...
So on Thursday after checking everything out and God reminding me faithfully throughout the week of His ability to open the storehouses of heaven and bless us...I sat down to write a note to the Calhoun's and write the check. I also determined that I would speak to the kids and get their feedback before actually giving the money.
I then finished preparations for going to see the Phantom of the Opera and before leaving I checked the mail. There was a letter from someone who has never written before...and you won't believe it (well, you might) a check for $1000.
I LAUGHED aloud, then shared with Jacob all I had been wrestling through during the week. He celebrated with me.
What an awesome God we serve!

Dining Pleasure

Ok, My mouth is delighted!

This weekend my sister came to visit and serve Single Mother's gathering in my house for ministry. However, our family recieved a private dining extravaganza for Shabbat on Friday evening. She has been experimenting and experiencing the joy of setting a banqueting table for her own adult children and their friends in Indianapolis. They gather to make an incredible Spanish dish called Paella.

She came to Kansas City armed and ready w/ pan and ingredients to delight our tastebuds. What a wonder it was to have her serve us w/ extravagant love.

Here is a showing for you to just imagine the amazing meal that was set before us. The process of making this dish is a ministry in itself. She prepared everything in stages, bit by bit...sauting the chicken w/ a head of garlic, adding the peppers and green beans to roast. Then she cooked grated tomatoes (yes grated because it gives the perfect texture...not to be purreed or chopped...GRATED) and grated onions. All this is done in the same pan so that the flavors of each stage are blended in just the right way. There is a growing urgency to prepare our hearts for the return of Jesus. But as a parent who desires more than anything for my children to be abandon to the things of God, I often stumble on the journey to preparedness and preparing my children. How do I stumble? Every day in a harsh word spoken to my children, in an abrupt reaction to someone else that is seen by my children, in a bad attitude towards a new policy or situation that is viewed by my children. How I fall short of the measure of revealing the heart, life and love of Jesus to those in my own family.
However, despite all of my shortcomings, somehow they are on the right track. Now don't get me wrong, that track has plenty of bumps, hills, valleys, and even offshoots that may seem lovely to venture down. But they are moving forward. Sometimes not as fast or as far as I would like, but then I fall into the arms of GRACE and trust that He is indeed in control.
I have been told by many how wonderful, good, kind etc my children are. My only response is really I can take NO credit. I have for the most part always felt inadequate as a parent, not a failure mind you, just ignorant of what they need, how to be a good parent etc. But I guess that is what has kept me leaning on the ONE who does know all about my children. I have tried more than anything to be an empty vessel for HIM to parent my children. AHHH it's when I get in the way that trouble starts.
So to my fellow pilgrims on this journey...may be be poured out so that Christ may be poured through us to our children.

Humanity the World Around....by Morgan Honnold

I’m writing this blog about an event that occurred two days ago, which, due to our jam-pack and stimulating schedule, feels like more like a month. We visited the Thai Embassy on Wednesday, 1/14/09, and that is what this blog is about.
Wednesday afternoon…temperatures drop. We head out on a 30-minute walk to an obscure destination, the Royal Thai embassy. Somewhere in the middle of the Georgetown University area we arrive upon a tidy, secure, three-story building that is our destination. Once there, we tumbled inside the twice-secured door, breathless and blustered by our cold and tardy situation. We rushed upstairs and peeled off layers of coats, and enjoyed the consumption of a few Thai treats offered to us by our gracious hosts. We then sat down to a 45-minute breakdown of the roles and functions of the Thai government and Thai Embassy. Our presenters then took questions from the audience, which consisted of about 50 participants of the Washington Center Seminar. The questions were the regular, relevant, smart-sounding inquiries that attentive college students are expected to ask in such a setting, and pertained to things like foreign policy, import/export products, economy, et cetera. But I was waiting to ask a question that had been percolating in my mind since the first time I visited Thailand exactly three years ago….
Rewind. Excuse me as I switch to third person in order to properly perceive this story once again.
January, 2006. 18-year-old Morgan had been working in a children’s home in Bangalore, India for the past five months, and went on a 10-day vacation to Bangkok, Thailand. Once there, she was perpetually impressed by the mega-malls, clean streets, courteous people, and awesome street food! She loved lots of aspects of her experience there, but one reoccurring sight confused and perplexed her. Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere she went, she saw middle-age or old men accompanied by one or two young beautiful Thai girls. Morgan was disturbed by this frequent sight, and asked her friends, who had lived in Thailand for many years, what this phenomenon was. They sadly and gently explained that Thailand has become a leading market in one of the world’s most profitable businesses – human flesh. They explained that most of these girls were prostitutes – not by choice, but by painful and complicated varied circumstances. Morgan was devastated, enraged, and confused at how such blatant and disgusting disregard for the sanctity of a woman’s body and human dignity could be so openly tolerated and accepted. Her friends continued to explain that the level of this corruption infiltrated every tier of Thai life, and greatly contributed to the tourist population. In fact, Thailand is known to many as a prime purchasing destination for this one thing: sex.
Fast-forward.
Two and a half years later, July of 2008…21-year-old Morgan is in India all summer, working alongside her best friend with drug-addicted street kids in Calcutta. They go again to Thailand, to Bangkok and Pattiya, but this time Morgan is armed with a little more information. She has been reading, researching, learning about this thing called Human Trafficking, or the illegal sale and exploitation of human beings. She is gripped by this world-wide epidemic of slavery, and this time, she knows what it is that she’s seeing. She knows what the neon lights and disturbing sights and violated rights is, and she’s still grieved, distressed, and enraged. Some vacation. She can no longer plead ignorance and thereby turn a blind eye to the hopeless plight of millions of people, nor does she want to. But she does not know what to do. She cannot break down brothel doors, rescue ravaged children, redeem the raped bodies and souls. So she prays, and waits, and learns, and informs, and hopes and believes that in order for us to see world-wide restitution of this issue, world leaders have to acknowledge the issue and take unified and convicted action against it. This experience in Thailand is largely why Morgan was so eager and excited to participate in this current experience in Washington.
Fast-forward again, and stop. Right here. Right now. 1/16/09. The Washington Center Presidential Inauguration Seminar students visit Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. Morgan’s group gets to go. And Morgan is elated at the prospect of really hearing, from the “horse’s mouth,” what the government is doing to address this issue. So she raises her had, at first nonchalantly, and then with increasing urgency, prodded by her friend to ask this question that could be controversial, yet is hugely pertinent.
“We’re almost out of time,” they say, “So one more question.” I stretch my hand higher, and when called on, commence: “Thank you. I’ve had the opportunity to visit your beautiful country on several occasions, and have greatly enjoyed my experience. You have a wonderful country to be very proud of. Yet I was disturbed to see the global issue of human trafficking so prevalent there. Could you tell me what the government is doing to counteract this growing issue, and also, does the high participation of wealthy and often high-ranking American, European, and Middle Eastern individuals greatly hinder this issue from being resolved or more aggressively addressed?”There. I asked it. This is what I’ve been wanting to know – if the people who hold the power are doing what it takes to make the change, or if they, like many American politicians, are drunk by their elevated position and removed from the desperate situations of the people which comprise their country. Essentially what I’m asking, and what I’ve been asking, is just this; if I want to counteract social injustice, and see change and hope and freedom brought to the lives of those that the world has deemed dispensable and worthless, should I focus my energies of approach on the bottom-up (by working with grassroots and volunteer organizations), or from the top-up (by advocating change from a position in government itself.)?
The answer I receive was sadly short of satisfying. In the Thai embassy, they expressed awareness to the issue, and to the multi-level approach that any sort of solution must take. The talked vaguely about organizations that help families and girls who are forced into their situations. They responded as they should; professionally, sympathetically, politically. But their regulated response lacked compassion, lacked vision, lacked deep desire and motivation to see this problem rapidly and drastically resolved, not for the sake of the reputation of their nation, but for the sake of the lives destroyed. And this short interaction – my thirty-second question and their one-minute answer - portrayed to me a greater picture of what tragically but frequently takes place in governmental institutions. The leaders lose touch with the people they are designing to serve – is it not curious that our lawmakers and the determiners of literally every aspect of our nation live far removed from and have no grid for the daily life of the millions of people they represent? How, then, can we expect our government or any to operate out of any deeper motivation than their own good and social/moral obligation? Why is a government which is described to be for the people, by the people really just a government – no people truly involved?
I cannot honestly say that I’ve come to any firm conclusion, nor had any brilliant epiphany in regards to my question. I can only say that I and others deeply care, but don’t know where to go to see legitimate, legal changes without losing heart, hope, and the touch of humanity in the long grueling legislative process. It’s not right that the ravaged bodies and souls of millions of innocent victims is not enough to stop every man, woman, and child in their tracks until the exploitation and destruction ends. It’s not right that the physical, spiritual, and emotional wounds are translated into little more than country boundaries and dollar signs in the eyes of policymakers. Conviction, passion, determination are all critical elements of seeing these things come to an end, but there is a missing ingredient, a key component, a “greater than” and “better than” and “other than” solution than what I’m seeing take place right now. Until the time when these bitter tragedies are no more, however, these are the tools we’ve been given, and so I appeal to you to arm yourself with these things also, and change whatever corner of the universe you dwell in.
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~ Ghandi

Where Were YOU?

So where were you when the New Year rang in? Many were at One Thing dancing and celebrating the new year, some were with families and friends, but I didn't see many were we were. As the bells chimed, and the ball dropped to ring in 2009 I found myself in one of my LEAST favorite places...WALMART. Can you believe it. But always one to make the most of a seemingly poor situation, my children and I rode the cart down the isles of the grocery crying out "Happy New Year " to all who would listen.
We had spent 4 glorious days surrounded by over 300 children leading and teaching them about the love of Jesus and playing amazing games like PEANUT BUTTER SMASH, AND COTTON CANDY HEAD. But we were exhausted and had wonderful plans to spend all of January 1st watching the extended versions of Lord of the Rings.
It was a promise I had made to Jacob: If he read all 3 books we all would set aside a day to watch the movies together. January 1st was that day and what a day it was.
We would watch a DVD (all the 3 movies were in 2 DVD) get something to munch on, watch another movie, munch some more etc. I actually stayed in my jammies ALL day, dozed in and out a bit. This was FAR from my typical day but I thoroughly enjoyed it (probably won't repeat it for a while).
So what was the spiritual significance of this? Well, I'm not too sure other than the Lord delights when we take time to rest. I did find myself throughout the movies asking the Lord to make me like certain ones of the characters, desiring their perservance, their ability to run and not grow weary, to fight the enemy w/ such tenacity and WIN, to raise the dead. I was reminded of the evil that is raising up out of the depths of the earth even now, and the coming battle.
AND, it is always glorious to spend time with my kiddos.

Hope your New Year was a blessing to you.

What the Honnold Kids do for FUN...

When I'm not looking, here is what my children do for entertainment. This is Misty's home state, and the location of much of her family. A big component of our choice to come out for Christmas was the birth of Samantha Kaye-Marie Keifer, Misty's niece's first baby. Samantha was born on December 17, which is also the four year anniversary of the death of Misty's mother, Beverly Tomey. This sad but beautiful day now not only commemorates a finished life, it also celebrates a newly began one. A dear family friend gave us a Christmas gift of tickets to the Broadway production of The Lion King musical. We sat in the Orchestra section, close enough to the stage to see the sweat reflect off the dancers bodies, close enough to nearly touch the elephant as it lumbered down the aisle, close enough to observe every facial gesture of the painted, costumed performers. It was an altogether breathtaking experience, and, although we couldn't take pictures of the performance, we could take pictures of our brochures! I finally went hunting. This past week, I had the chance of a lifetime. I got to go hunting with my friend Justin Curley and his Grandpa. The two days that we were gone were very likely two of the best days of my life. I got to shoot two deer, stick my hands into their innards, get blood on my face (and not have to shower after the photo shoot was over), eat like a king, and spend time with 3 of the most amazing men I have had the privilege of meeting.

We left KC around 3 pm Tuesday afternoon, December 2nd. Driving around 2 ½ hours to Buffalo, KS, a small town in which our destination was located, we got there right on time for dinner. Hank Payne, our host, grilled some of the most amazing steaks I have ever seen, much less tasted. After eating our fill of salad, steak and potatoes, Hank showed us pictures of the deer we were to be hunting. He had set up motion cameras at each of the feeders where the deer come to feed, so the pictures we saw were recent and unbelievable. The deer that were on the ranch were getting big and comfortable. A number of the big deer were coming out during the day, before dark to feed out in the open. Excitement built in all of our minds as we looked on to the morrow.

Morning came, and we left the house at app. 5:45, in order to be in the blinds by 6:15. However, Hank didn’t take us up to the blinds before we feasted upon a hearty breakfast of eggs and bacon. I love good food. After bundling up so we stay warm, we all head out to the blinds, Grandpa and I to one, Hank and Justin to another (there were 3 total, two 2-man blinds, one 1-man blind). Hank dropped us off about ¼ mile from the blind, so we had a short hike to the destination. After we got there, however, we were ready. The sun rose at 7:21 in Buffalo, so legal shooting began at precisely 6:51. However, we had to wait awhile before we saw anything. Between 7:45-8, the first deer of the day appeared.

Coming over a rise directly behind the feeder, Grandpa was the first to spot my pet. As the light got better and he came closer, we were able to get a better look at my buck-to-be. From where we sat, he appeared to have 8-10 points, but his body size was greater than most bucks (or so Grandpa told me). After he began feeding, I got the “ok” to shoot. The buck, which I later named Zeusy, positioned himself for a perfect shot… and I freaked out. Before I could settle down enough to get the sight to be steady, he had moved. After another couple minutes of my building up my nerve for another attempt, he moved again into a picture perfect broadside. Again, I put his vitals right in the center of my sights… and he moved. After another couple minutes with Grandpa and I keeping an eye on him, he moved into a broadside position. Again I lined up my rifle, all the while Grandpa giving me constant nerve-soothing talk. This time, however, I fired. My shot completely missed the critter, but because December 2nd was the first day of the Kansas rifle season, and this was likely the first shot he had heard in months, he only ran app. 15 yards before he stopped, listening for the disturbance. With my ears ringing, I readied another shot, and placed the crosshairs right behind his shoulder. This time however, being aware of my mistake (pushing the rifle forward to my trigger finger), I corrected and hit him. The buck ran 50 yards before he disappeared into the waist-high grass.

From where we sat, it looked like he had ducked into a ravine, just by the way that his body dropped. After waiting another ½ hour (it felt like eternity; I swear that my clock moved slower than it ever has), Grandpa went down to check on where it looked like he had dropped, around 200 yards away. When he reached the base of the tree where the Zeusy had left our vision, he turned and waved me down exuberantly. When I got to the tree, Grandpa was on the phone with Hank, the massive beast dead at his feet. As soon as he was off the phone, he jumped around for something like 10 minutes, ecstatic that I had killed something the first morning. I was a little shell shocked, looking down at the deer, then looking up at him, down at the deer again, thinking mostly of how much my ears rang.

After Grandpa calmed down a little, he began field dressing the creature. I had never seen anything like this before, and I honestly came close to vomiting. I have only thrown up as a result of sickness, so I don’t describe myself as weak-stomached, but I was totally unprepared for the unbelievable amounts of blood and gore that came gushing from that animal. He kept the chest area untouched, telling me how good this deer will look on the wall. After gutting the monster, he dubbed me a Buckmaster, painting my face with the blood of my first kill. After taking a number of pictures, Justin and Hank appeared driving the Ranger, which is like a Gator on steroids. After a photo shoot of Zeusy and I, we loaded the monstrous beast, and began the short ride back. It was only then that I began to realize that I had actually killed a massive buck. Joy and euphoria set it in. I’ve never had so much fun on so short a drive as that.

Morgan's artistic eidible interpretation...

#9

Hank owned a number of steers, so he had one of those huge scales that you use where you herd a bunch of them onto there and close the gate and weigh them, so we weighed my pet there. 170 pounds field dressed. Not sure if that is really big or not, but if someone has weighed (not made a guess on) a buck, please let me know the comparison so I can get a grasp on size. After we hung it up to cool and had another photo shoot, we all went back into the house, and the verbal bouts began. Grandpa was so sure he would get a bigger buck than me, Justin was talking all about the “fawn” I’d killed, and I was just showing them up at every turn.

That afternoon, we went out again to get some more beasts. I killed a doe (not a very exciting story, so I won’t bother with sharing it unless you ask), but we waited up in the blind for a while later, until it was dark and Grandpa could get his “monstrosity”. When his buck finally did appear, he fired once (only once), and the deer was gone, and I mean gone like running. All I saw/heard was the shot then the buck bucking it to the east (our left). It jumped a fence and disappeared out of sight and we waited another ½ hour, or until dark. After dark came, we went searching for the doe first, and found her. She was without a doubt a corpse. Grandpa field dressed her too, simply because it was dark and we needed to hurry. With her, he cut all the way up the chest cavity, so when we loaded her onto the jeep, I was staring into the vacant chest of a deer bigger than me… Ugh.

After Justin killed his 2 the next day, we packed them all into Grandpa’s Ford Expedition and drove to meet the parents. To pack them in, Hank had to use a chainsaw to cut the front legs off of all bucks. Playing around with the foreleg of a deer is one of the most interesting activities I will ever pursue. I made sure and patted everyone’s shoulder with this morbid scepter. Seeing as I was the smallest, I was made to ride in the back seat, next to the deer corpses. I will tell you this, there is no weirder feeling in the world than having 5 carcasses ride next to you for an hour. One of the hoofs was just to my right, just by my arm; I played around with it most of the ride home. When we finally met the moms in Ottawa, KS, my mom couldn’t believe that we had actually packed 5 fully grown deer into the back of a SUV. Her face was absolutely hysterical, no doubt about that.

All in all, these couple days have been some of the most amazing days that I’ve experienced in years. I learned much about myself, and about the friend that I have in Justin. I can’t tell you how many times I heard the words “I’m proud of you” over those two days, the majority of them coming from men who I hardly know. If at all, I’ve rarely had anyone so set aside their time to sow into my life and grow me as a man. I found out how wonderfully good for the heart and mind 2 days away from everything can be for anyone. I was given the opportunity of a lifetime, and I didn’t have to pay or give really anything for it. I tasted what I believe our relationship with God is supposed to be like. Grandpa took care of everything; I didn't have to do anything the entire two days. All I did was go shopping with them, try on some clothes for them, pick out some food, go shooting a few times, and then go out those two days. The entire path was paved for me, and I was left completely shocked at God’s grace to put me in such a receiving position. I can't wait to go again some time, simply because it was the greatest escape I've ever had from life.

BENEFIT FOR THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN AT MORGANS SCHOOL

Making sure you find your seat and are well informed about the nights events...Morgan is the one to help.

Right in our own back yard...well down the street a bit the nations are represented. We have hosted young people from Columbia, Mongolia, Iran, Pakistan, Israel, Brazil, Sudan, and other nations.

Friday night we had fun at her school watching dances from Brazil and India, poetry written by these young people and a fashion show. WAY COOL STUFF.

These are two of Morgans fun friends, enjoying the music at the end of the evening...Sorry I can't spell their names (you should have seen how I just tried to spell the word spell!)

So this evening was orchestrated by a group of young people to benefit the 'Invisible Children'. I find myself almost daily saying "LET ME OUTTA HERE". I feel like I could run away.
Just yesterday I shared this with two friends who both are experiencing the same feelings, so that tells me 'God is up to something'! I just wish I knew what.
I am feeling like things that have been SO important to me in the past are taking a short break, the intensity of our schedules demands our full attention. But keeping our hearts aflame and loving one another is the test of the fire we are currently walking through. I feel like there is this wall before me and I am literally pressing on it w/ my head, I will not budge I feel my spirit saying (but my flesh says 'RUN AWAY'). The wall will give way as long as I don't back off. There are things in life that God has said 'don't budge on this one'. So I am not budging.

I guess that 'thing' in life would be the children, the next generation. This past weekend the boys and I went to Alma, Ark. to minister to children and parents for the weekend. I love opening up the word and sharing with children. I love to see their eyes when I read the description of Jesus in Revelation 19...WOW, this is a Jesus they have never seen before. I love to give them historic details about Daniel's or Esther's capitivity, then hit them with the reality of their steadfastness in the midst of such trials. I love to see the Holy Spirit move on them, brood over them, and set their hearts on fire.
And I love to spend Tuesday and Friday evenings w/ my own kids: laughing, sharing stories, laughing again, figuring out schedules, eating dessert etc.
Those are things I won't budge on.

OH, I caused a parent to get up and leave one of the sessions I taught. He told me later he was sorry but he was getting so convicted as a dad he couldn't stand any more! YES...go God. I preach and share the simple truth that God WILL turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the fathers. (Malachi 4:6) Sorry guys, I don't waste time painting a pretty picture but I lay down the reality of what that looks like: Jesus dying on a cross. Doing it, pouring out His very lifeblood to death, even death on a cross. AND all for the JOY set before him. My heart is that parents would arrise and be like Jesus. He was NEVER concerned about his ministry or calling. All He cared about was His children's destiny. May we be a generation that sees the way Jesus sees.

CAN ANYTHING GOOD COME FROM THE CORNFIELDS

Well, did any good thing come from Nazareth. YES. The boys and I have found ourselves lost in the midst of cornfields for the past week plus. We have found rest and relaxation and lots of play time in the middle of the cornfields in Indiana.
We basked in the sun on Lake Santee w/ friends that live on the lake. The boys played in the sandbox (you are never too old) making tunnels only to blow them up w/ firecrackers (big boy play!), read, swam, went tubing, played with cats, put a puzzle together, and much more. I on the other hand lavished in the day to day conversations w/ my friend Ann. We pondered the deep things of God together like; What was the first thing Adam thought when he was created, is the Schulamite IN the palanquin in chapter 3 of Song of Solomon or is the bridegroom going to get her, how do we parent, am I in a desert season etc. I spent great time in the word and working on a study of the Song of Solomon for children. We skied together, I got to go tubing w/ my boys, sit in the sun. YES, we relaxed and it was wonderful.
But what about Ohio…is God there. WELL, let me tell you He is. The boys and I have spent 2 amazing days in Waynesfield, Ohio at a retreat center. Now this is no normal retreat center. It is currently still under renovation. It is an old abandon school, w/ gym, auditorium and A PRAYER ROOM.
A few years ago God took a businessman from Cincinnati, imparted a vision for abandon schools and Mike is working almost solo to bring about God’s heart. He calls the retreat center the "Son Center". He has a vision to establish them all over the nation.
The boys and I gathered with about 30 to kids and adults and shared the heart of the King that is returning, empowered them to sing the word, released them in prophetic art, worshipped with them and so much more.
These are people who have never heard of IHOP, but God has been stirring something in the hearts of the children. How they long for something deeper.
Jesus captivated their hearts as I read the description of Him that is in Revelation 1, He empowered them as I shared that He is returning and He is going to establish His kingdom and we will rule and reign w/ him. A young man by the name of John the Baptist said “COOL, I can’t wait!”
We invited these kids into our living room as Philip played his guitar and led worship. We then opened up Psalm 23 and had them singing the word. One mother said “I have been longing to sing the word but thought I was weird! Now I know it’s ok and I can’t wait to get home and sing in my kitchen.”
A lovely young lady named Kayle glowed as she danced to “People Get Ready” and released the message that Jesus is returning through dance. Kayle has one shoe that has about a 5 inch platform on it because she has one leg shorter than the other! It is powerful to see her dance before the Lord.
OH HOW I LOVE JESUS. Children all over the world are waiting and longing to see Him, to know His heart for them, to be told that they hear from Him. Parents and leaders are mystified as to how to raise this generation.
We shared at a church last night that has caught the vision but has had no idea how to walk out empowering the children. So the boys and I went, Philip led worship, we taught them one of the Apostolic prayers and had the kids pray, I called the kids of the church forward to be the ministry team and they prayed over the adults, we danced. I challenged to adults to go deep themselves. Many were touched, challenged and encouraged by all God was doing.
I have been so proud and amazed at my own children. This summer has been an awesome time for the Honnold Family as God has 'set' the kids in new places of authority, identity and in their destiny. What an awesome privilege to be a MOM!

Honnold's on the Road - By Philip

Hey, wasup my peeps?

I took over the computer for a little while, so this post will come with my spin on every story. Right now we're in Indianapolis, staying at my Aunt's apartment for a couple days, visiting her and just doing our thing. We've had a busy weekend, going all over Indiana, so I'll start from the beginning.

We pulled in late Wednesday night, Thursday morning to our good friend Marsha's house, where we spent a couple days resting and recuperating. I slept in til 12:30 on Thursday, getting the best sleep I've gotten in weeks. The next couple days (Thursday and Friday) were spent just hanging around the house, playing guitar, reading, etc. (as a brief side note, Marsha has a gator, which is like a 4-wheeler with two seats and a miniture flatbed, and Jacob spent hours on end driving it around her property, getting his family to ride with him, then doing everything within his power to scare them witless.) We had a deep philosophical discussion late into the Thursday night, then Friday afternoon we went to Indianapolis, to visit my Aunt.

When we got into Indy, we went straight to my cousin's restaraunt, where we had an amazing meal of all kinds of rare delicasies. Then, after we were done eating, we went to my Aunt's apartment where we've been for the past couple days. While in Indy we have seen some relatives, went to a movie (Journey to the Center of the Earth; it wasn't too bad, kinda interesting), and went to hear a symphony at an outdoor place... I don't remember what it's called. They played nothing but Beethoven for the entire evening, and the pianist was RIDICULOUSLY SKILLFUL. He was really good, no joke. It was a blast

That's where we are now, hanging around the apartment, doing our thing. Tomorrow Meghan heads back to Kansas City, and Tuesday we move on to the next leg of our trip.

OH, I almost forgot one of the major reasons for staying w/ our friend Marsha!! My sister Morgan has a new car!!! It's a '98 Toyota Camry, black, 4-door w/ a cd player and sun roof. I got to drive it all the way from Marsha's house to Indy (about 3-hours), and let me tell you, it's amazing. it's so responsive and maneuverable after driving my mom's van all over the place, I can't wait to get back on the road.

Well, I think that about finishes this update. Apologies for any and all grammatical or spelling errors; I've never posted before, so this is new.

Bless you all!!

Philip J. This beautiful family from Germany has become near and dear to our hearts over the years and they are preparing to return to their homeland of Germany. So today at their suggestion we rented a pontoon boat for the lake.
I literally felt like the Beverly Hillbillies of Lake Jacomo! We had a blow up air mattress we used as a floatation device as well as a small blow up boat. We tied a string on to the back of the boat and attempted to hold on. After almost severing Philip's hand in two the men (Viktor and Philip) looked for other options, in which they accousted one of Viktors fishing poles. They proceeded to take it apart and we used half of the pole as a handle to hold on to. At one time there were 8 of us being pulled by a very hard working motor. We had ahold of each others ankles, edges of the mattress and a few strong and able bodies held on to the pole. After laughing hysterically as we are meandering through the waves, the pole broke in two, only to cause us to laugh harder!
Then (not to be upped by Morgan's experience of para sailing in Thailand) we found a 25 foot cliff that jutted out into the water. After testing the depth of the water at the probably point of impact...we decided to GO FOR IT! Meghan led the charge on this one and became hooked. What a RUSH...Most of us plummeted off this cliff at least once some going as many as 4 times.

We enjoyed 8 luxurious hours in the sun, swimming, laughing (yes eating too) jumping, mattress riding; just sharing the beauty of the day with beautiful people. We all agreed, God was in our midst ENJOYING us as we enjoyed one another. He made this day for us...hope you enjoyed it too.

join us as we venture around the grand canyon.

I couldn't capture the whole thing in one shot but did manage to get a few good pictures...and of course I knew you would want to see the beautiful kiddos...

Jacob wasn't feeling well this day, he stayed close to the lodge w/ Meghan. These children are a part of the Hopi Indian Tribe in Arizona. Their reservation lies within the bounds of the Navajo Reserveration. They are the only tribe that is on the actual land thier forefathers lived on. The Hopi are not an agressive tribe, in fact they have always been a 'praying' tribe. How awesome it is that the Living God is revealing Himself to the children to raise up a priestly nation. One boy who attended the camp and our ministry times on the reservation is the son of the 'priest' of the tribe (not the chief or witchdoctor) On the first night of our ministry there this young man asked me "can I pray as we finish worship". Imagine, asking to pray! What he is created for. Our friends Danielle and Charity who work with YWAM hosted our time there. They have been working with these children for over 4 years and have brought glory and honor to the name of Jesus through their work in Arizona.
We spent time on this reservation teaching the apostolic prayers, worshipping with the children, teaching about God's desire and ability to heal broken hearts, dancing with them and we also had the great opportunity to do some music lessons. When the kids saw and experienced worship and prayer, they wanted to learn! They were so anxious to get their hands on the drums, guitar and keyboard. Please pray for these wonderful kids. Pray for Jesus to reveal Himself to them. Pray for the religious bonds to be broken and for them to walk into their destiny.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219730528133643426" style="WIDTH: 182px; He joined in with the worship teams by playing drums and singing on the teams during the Nighc Watch.

Meghan seemed to carry the biggest load as she was asked to lead up the NightWatch for the camp. So everynight Meghan could be found singing over all the 265 campers. There were so many amazing testimonies of what God did in the night. One young boy woke up and said he heard angels singing, another woman had a dream of a wolf with red eyes encircling the camp. She commanded it to leave and it did; she said when she woke up she heard Meghan singing in the tent over the camp and she knew the worship had pushed back the darkness. And although Meghan gave leadership to this it was a group effort that brought it forth. All the people from Kansas City that went on the trip helped to 'pray through the night'.

Meghan said the best time of the whole camp was when she was playing and singing all alone from 1-2 am.
